Official Background Checks in North Carolina

North Carolina does not offer a general-public SBI name-search portal. For your own statewide fingerprint record, use the SBI Right to Review process. The subject submits the current application, identification, an FD-258 fingerprint card, and the required fee. This is the right route to review fingerprint-linked cycles and ask SBI's Criminal Information and Identification Section about a mismatch or missing disposition.

Charge class is another field that needs context. North Carolina uses structured sentencing, so a felony label alone does not state the sentence. Superior Court tries felonies, although the first appearance and other early steps can occur before a magistrate or in District Court. The felony chart combines offense class, prior-record level, and the aggravated, presumptive, or mitigated range. Misdemeanors remain in District Court and run from Class A1 through Class 3. Under G.S. 15A-1340.23, the listed maximum terms range from 150 days for Class A1 to 20 days for Class 3, but the final judgment is the record that shows what the court imposed.

Jones County Criminal Records: What They Contain

A Jones County court file can show the case number, court location, category, filing date, current status, parties, public attorney information, charge text, offense date, hearings, events, disposition, and eligible financial entries. No official public Jones County warrant search was located. Call the sheriff at 252-448-0035 and the magistrates at 252-448-6235. For a known case, the clerk can check court events. Start by phone, then confirm whether to use the Highway 58 counter, mail, or fax. Maysville Police Department keeps its own reports and publishes a $5 pickup rule after completion. Pollocksville and Trenton requesters should identify the investigating agency instead of assuming the town holds the record.

Jones County Custody and Supervision Records
